Authentic Japanese Gourmet Breadcrumbs

Panko パン粉 is a Japanese-inspired bread crumb that
developed in the 1940s while Japan was fighting the Russians when heating the oven for baking bread was a scarcity during those days and an alternative baking solution was needed.

The word “panko” Pan パン ko粉こ means “bread powder” or “bread flour” in Japanese, not “small pieces of bread” as is often thought.

Unlike traditional breadcrumbs, made from dried and ground bread, panko is made from a particular type of white bread that is processed uniquely.

Each loaf is baked in a purpose-built chamber that uses a special process, creating a crustless loaf of bread with full of tiny air pockets.

The bread is carefully ground to a specific size, created a light and delicate texture.
